Mulder, Eh!

As many of you know, I have a Twitter account. As of yesterday, I have over 1,000 tweets! Exciting, eh! My tweets show up on my blog over there to the left in my "Twitterbox" (get it, it's like a litterbox? *snicker snort*).

Twitter is kind of fun as I have anipals from all over the globe! Yuppers, I'm not the only tweeting cat (or dog or guinea pig or bird or rabbit) out there. There are tens of thousands of us. It's a nice community. I've learned cool things from my Twitter pals and even taught them a few things about life as a Canadian cat in Las Vegas.

Today was a bitter sweet day though. One of my first Twitter pals Mulder (know as @Mulder_Cat on Twitter) had to cross the Rainbow Bridge.

For those of you not familiar with the term, it's a beautiful verse written about when us anipals go to heaven. Here it is:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

So, Mulder had been sick for awhile with that horrible thing we all hate - cancer. Mulder liked to call his human "Staff" which was just hilarious. Staff took great care of Mulder and tried every treatment there was. Mulder did well for awhile, but recently that hoser cancer became too strong. (And hoser is a nice term, I could use something way worse here!)

From what we can tell in the Twitter community, Staff seems to be doing ok for losing his anipal today, and in common Twitter fashion, @Mulder_Cat was giving updates from OTRB today! (I've recently learned this power is possible.) Sounds like he even took his iPad over there, eh! *snicker snicker*

He said he was back to his normal weight, had his front claws back, and had wings - just like my brother Smoke! I dropped Mulder a tweet and asked him to give that bossy brother of mine a big old thwap on the head up there. I said he couldn't miss him - he's the big fat gray cat from Canada. *MOL* Mulder said, no problem he was on it!

It's great to know humans and anipals can still talk to any of our loved ones whether its through prayer, dreams, or OTRB Twitter! *MOL*

Mulder has a sister still here on Earth. Here name is Scully. Mulder says that Scully will take over bossing Staff around. Sounds like a solid kitty plan to me!

One of the best things I think Mulder shared with us on Twitter is how to build a kitty tuffet. It's basically a wonderful warm, snuggley blanket pile. I told Niece and now they're my roommate Frankie's favorite!

With happy thoughts of Mulder,
Boo Man

My Mama, Eh.

It's hard to believe that a year ago my mama left Earth to go see family, friends, and my buddy Smoke Kitty in heaven. In about another week, I will be celebrating a year in my new home in fabulous Las Vegas, and a year of the Boo Blog! I don't however wish to celebrate the hours I had to spend flying in that silly box last year! I will however really celebrate how slim and trim I'm getting here. I scoot all around the house chasing my favorite laser beam and fun toys.

I miss my mama sometimes. We had fun playing "Roll Over Boo" and I miss watching the snow on the Island, but I can always feel her with me watching over my daily naps in the desert sunshine and making sure my other furry roommates are happy and healthy as well. We all say little kitty prayers every night, and I know she can hear us all. It's funny because I often hear Niece say, "No, Boo" when I'm getting in trouble and my mama used to say the same thing! I still don't understand though what's wrong with eating a shopping bag. They're quite tasty! *Meow Meow*

Niece is a pretty cool lady even though she likes to squeeze me a lot. She calls them Biggins Hugs, which does make it sound better, but what I really love is being brushed. That is sooooo pawesome. I've learned how to follow Niece and The Boy into the bathroom and that's where I get lots of brushing. I guess they're kind of a captive audience in there, eh? MOL!

I also have tons of fun watching the birdies outside. There is a family of them who lives in a cyprus tree. Both Keebler and I love to see them come and go. Sometimes Keebler jumps at the window and then falls down. It is hilarious! I just stay still and do my famous Boo Man Chatter. It's pretty cool, eh?!

I hope all my Boo Buddies can smile knowing we're all doing great. I love my home and so does my furry sister Peggy Sue. And I'm sure our buddy George the singing canary is having a glorious spring up on the Island in his new home seeing the trees and flowers bloom. My mama is very healthy and happy in heaven now and Smoke Kitty is keeping her good company!

With lots of love,
The Boo Man

Birthday, Eh.

Today, is my huMum's birthday. I bet that she is rockin' a big old party in heaven with my old pal Smoke Kitty. I know everyone here on Earth misses her a lot, but it's ok because she's with us now all the time, every day!

Here's a great photo of my mom with her furry grandson Charlie and a funny little hat.

Many thanks to my neice for all the great hugs, kibble, and fun times here in Vegas. This place is a hoot!!! And I guess my kitty roommates aren't too bad either. I'm truly blessed!

Pawsitively yours,
Boo

Cat Facts, Aye?

Greetings Feline Friends and Followers!

Last Thursday, Niece and I hung out at The Rug. It was "coffee house" night. Keebler came by and read a poem. Frankie sang a song while tapping on the jingle ball toy. And Niece and I read this fascinating book called "180 Amazing Cat Facts". It retails for $1.59 in Canada. That's just a looney and some change, aye!

Now I know this sounds like a lot of information to take in - I mean 180 facts is daunting, but really it was a pleasant read and The Rug is such a wonderful place. The book is actually a small paperback and newsprint book that my human mom had purchased. She loved miniature things! My human sister brought it back with her this past May when mom went to heaven to play with Smoke kitty. I'm sure it took up no room at all in her suitcase!

Since this was such a fun night of reading with Niece, I had to share some of the amazing facts from this book!

Fact #2: "Egyptians shaved their eyebrows as a sign of mourning when their cats died." Boy, I'm glad people don't do that any more - that would look as funny as a cat with their butt shaved... oh wait, I think Lila gets her butt shaved. Whoops!

Fact #11: "Cats are the only animals that purr. Cats purr about 26 cycles per second, the same frequency as an idling diesel engine." VRROOM VRROOM baby!

Fact #15: "Cats hearts beat twice as fast as human hearts." That's just because we have a lot of love to give! Awwww...

Fact #18: "Calico cats are almost always female." Yeah, and the one that lives here is still rude to me! I wish there was a fact that says they're always nice to Canadians so I could show it to her.

Fact #20: "Cats have 527 muscles." I think I have more because I'm always hearing how I'm such a big boy!

Fact #61: "The average cat is considered a senior citizen at age 10." WHAT?! I'm 6 this year - no way, I don't feel a day over 2. By the way, my birthday is July 25th and I'm open to gifts!

Fact #96: "95% of cat owners admit they talk to their cats." Is it strange that I talk to my owner so she can write this blog?

Pretty fascinating stuff, aye? I'll write more in a future blog. With 180 facts, this will keep us going for awhile. MOL! (meow out loud)

Have a whiskertastic week!

Pawsitively Yours,
Boo

Nicknames, Aye?

I've come to the conclusion that people in America love nicknames and silly words. Here are some of the ones I've heard lately:

The Boo Man (Very super hero sounding. I'm pretty sure I could save the day if I had a good nap.)

Boo Bear (Can I use that as my trucker CB radio ID? "Breaker breaker, this is Boo Bear, what's your 20? I've got some fire in the wire and a smokey on my tail.")

Honey Bear (Oh come on, that screams wuss city!)

Buddy (Isn't that a dog name? Yuck!)

Big Boy (As in the restaurant that Bob guy had?)

Lover Boy (Now that's what I'm sayin'!)

Mr. Tubbs and The Big Guy (I'm pretty sure these are a direct reference to my robust Canadian build.)

Well, if you think those are silly, check out some of the ones my roommates have to endure. Mind you, their real names are Keebler, Newbe, Lila and Frankie.

Troubles McGee (Is Keebler's last name McGee? Huh, I thought she was Norwegian not Irish.)

Keebee (Sounds like a bumble bee locksmith, "Just call the Key Bee for all your lock troubles!")

Keebs (Rhymes too much with dweeb. If she was in elementary school they'd call her Keebee the Dweebee. That would be bad.)

Dewbe (People could really take this the wrong way, I mean I know we all do a little catnip from time to time, but that's the hard stuff!)

Dewbers (That's too hard to say with my Canadian accent, aye?)

Dewbs (Sounds like boobs - that is funny!)

El Dewbo (It has great latin flare! Wonder if she has a cape and sword?)

Pumpkin D (What?!)

Crazy Legs (Several cats have this nickname, I'm not sure who truly owns it though. They're all crazy to me!)

Bella (Ahhh, the sounds of Italy... "When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's amore...")

Stinky (I've seen some of the butts around here and this ain't no lie. Know what I'm sayin'?!)

Stinkles (Again, just another way to say kitties need to lay off the kibble sometimes. Step away from the bowls folks.)

Frank'n'Stuff (Better her than me with this nickname.)

Frankles (Who is the cat again? I never see her...)

I'm pretty sure the only way I can end this posting is to share my nicknames for Niece and The Boy.

Niece is Food Lady.
The Boy is Food Man.

Pawsitively Yours,
Honey Bear

The Boo Man is Back, Aye!

Hey there all you cool cats and kittens, it's the Boo Man and I'm back on the world wide web!! Not having the internet sure is a drag, aye. I'd often go to the computer monitor and stare at it wondering why it was blank. I guess that funny box with the blinky lights wasn't working.

That stupid UPS man never came! I watched and watched and watched just like Niece asked me to. And I'm good at watching too!! I saw lots of birds, but no man with a box. I guess he went to my sister's house. That's just silly since the computers are here and not there. I mean if they know where to send the bill for the internet service, you'd think they'd know where to send the new blinky light box that lets me write my blog! As you can see from my photos, I was very excited to get it out of the box and plug it in.

Anyway, there were so many adventures this week, some good and some not so good - but there is one that stands out and must be told first. Fortunately it didn't involve me, but after I heard it, I laughed so hard at how silly Niece can be that I decided it has to be told! So get a cup of coffee, grab that Timmy Horton doughnut, and settle in for "Story Time With The Boo Man".

Once upon a time, my neice's fiance, The Boy, went to culinary school. I guess it's a very fun thing to do. Again, I'm not real big on school... but he enjoyed it and did very well. Here's their photo at his graduation.

I guess in school they practiced something called searing. According to my search on Wikipedia it is: a technique used in grilling, roasting, braising, sautéing, etc. that cooks the surface of the food at high temperature so that a caramelized crust forms....I've never seen this done with kibble, so I don't know if it is just a bunch of hocus-pocus or what.

According to Niece, she hates it because it fills the house with some smoke and oil smell, but she agrees it does make the meat turn out better. She says it is really something best done outside on the grill or in a kitchen that is like a restaurant with a big hood.

Well on Wednesday night, Niece wanted to make pork chops. It was too windy for the grill outside so she decided to just cook them in the oven. The Boy said, "Oh, let me sear them in a pan, it will help them come out better!" So Niece agreed and the process began... now mind you, at this point, I'm in my big comfy suite still watching for the UPS man out the front window...

Well I guess when The Boy put the pork chops in the pan it caught on fire! The flames I hear were HUGE! Niece said they were a good 3 feet and it "seared" the wall and cabinets above the stove. Now I know I'm just a cat, but I'm pretty sure from the Wikipedia definition I found that walls and cabinets won't taste better with searing.

Niece said the worst part was that they have this device called a "microwave" that hangs over their stove. She said the flame scortched the microwave and it started making a horrible noise. She said she was so scared it was on fire that she pulled out the fire extinguisher. Now this is where the story gets good...

From what she says, it is a red canister filled with powder that puts out fires. Which I think sounds incredibly handy, aye. She said you have to pull the pin and squeeze the trigger... but she said there's one catch. YOU HAVE TO HAVE IT POINTING THE RIGHT WAY! I guess she didn't know it was pointing towards her face and she sprayed herself and not the fire! MOL MOL MOL!!! (MEOW OUT LOUD!!!) THAT IS HILARIOUS!! I wish I would have seen that one.

I guess she still had to turn it around and spray the microwave, just to be sure it wasn't on fire and that flame wasn't behind it burning the wall, but she couldn't see because her glasses were covered. MOL!!! She said she had it in her ears, down her shirt, in her hair... MOL!!! But really, she sprayed herself! Oh man, that is like a movie or something!!

I guess after that there was no fire, but the microwave was broken so they had to throw it away. And it took them over 2 hours to clean the kitchen. I guess the fire extinguisher powder just goes everywhere. Sounded like a big mess. Us kitties with our multiple paws could have been a big help, but it probably wouldn't have been too safe unless we had special kitty hazmat suits to help clean up in.

The funniest part though was later. Niece and The Boy were still hungry so they went out for a sandwich at their favorite place. FIREHOUSE SUBS! That's right, it's a sub place with a firefighter theme. Ohhhhhh, those kids make me laugh so hard. They sure are full of adventure and humor.

Whew... my stomach hurts from laughing... well that's all from here for today. It's nap time for me. Plus I just saw two birds out the window who are building a nest in the tree. I gotta go give them a piece of my mind. They better have construction permits for that nest or the home owners association is going to be all over them.

Pawsitively Yours,
Boo

My Life, Aye?

So I've been hearing some news that my blog is quite popular, aye! I can understand the appeal - I'm a single fella, from a mysterious foreign country, with some sexy badunk-a-dunk in my trunk-a-trunk. A little jelly in my doughnut (Tim Horton's of course). A little wiggle with my jiggle. Some fluffiness with my toughiness! Well, you get the point...

Since I probably have some readers who don't know my story, let me tell you a little about myself.

My mama found me at the pet store on Prince Edward Island when I was just 6 weeks old. I was pretty petite back then (only 2 pounds according to my vet records). One time as a kitten, I was sleeping on a couch cushion with my human sister, and when she woke up, I was snuggled on her shoulder sucking on her ear lobe! Guess I confused her ear for some tasty kitten's milk! My cuteness didn't stop there though. I used to like to leave cat toys in her shoes too when she came to visit.

I grew up with another cat named Smoke. He was a big fella, like myself, and LOVED to go outside. He was a little crazy, well ok, maybe a lot crazy! But we had a good little life when he wasn't being the bossy older brother. Unfortunately, he had an accident with one of those machines the humans have (the metal ones with the wheels). He healed for the most part, but I think it took too many of his 9 lives. He's very happy in heaven now. He runs and plays where ever he wants, and there are no cars there because everyone has angel wings and can fly.

Just a few years ago, my mama got a dog! At first, I was like, "MEOW WHAAAAT?!", but we already had a canary named George, so I let it go. Cat, bird, dog - whatever, we're all special in our own ways.

My furry sister's name is Peggy Sue. We are pretty good friends. It took me a bit to warm up to her because she loves to play while I love to sleep, but I have to admit, her sunny personality is contagious. She also used to eat my food all the time! I found that pretty rude for a Canadian lady. I mean I can't maintain this svelte fighting weight without my kibble!

Recently, my mama went on a journey to see Smoke. I'm sure they're having a fabulous time in heaven. It's weird she's not here on Earth, but I'm ok... matter of fact, I'm having a wonderful time living in Las Vegas. I'm so excited to hang out with all my extended family. I've heard so much about them over the years because they sent my mama lots of emails, had funny phone calls, and visited our happy home. And now, I'm even starting to make some new friends.

Here are a few of my favorite things:
#10 - The birds outside flying by. They're so fun to watch!
#9 - Canadian hockey
#8 - The word "hoser". Americans don't use it enough!
#7 - Rolling around. My mama taught me how to roll over. Pretty cute huh?
#6 - Chillin'
#5 - My blue cushion my mama made and now my fabulous big bed!
#4 - Doofus Dog - he's a hoot! I love that funny guy.
#3 - Being brushed
#2 - My fort that Niece built me. See, I tried to squeeze behind the books on the bookshelf because it seemed like a neat spot. So, she cleared them out and gave me a shelf and put blankets around it. I crawl in there and pretend I'm a lion in a cave. It's awesome. What kid doesn't love a fort?!
#1 - It's a tie between kibble and sleep.

Well, it's getting late here in the Pacific time zone. Until next time avid readers!!

Pawsitively Yours,
Boo
