Boo Buddy Birthday, Eh!

Greetings Y'All!! (Like my southern accent? I saw it on a Pace Picante commercial during a hockey game, eh!)

Today we have a Boo Buddy Birthday - Curley from Canada is 3 (or 21 if you do the human conversion)!

Now we all know what fun and crazy things happen when you're 3 (or 21), right? First off, you no longer have to show your cat ID when going to PetSmart for catnip. You also have the right to stop by the hampster cages and bet kibble on those spinny wheel things they run in. If three hampsters all stop in a row you win like 2,000 kibble! Plus, you can stop by the front counters and buy a pretty feline one of those foofy drinks mixed with cat milk and decorated with a toy mouse umbrella.

Now some people say that Curley and I look alot alike (here I am and Curley is above):

I'm totally cool with that because I think that Curley and I would make excellent "pawmen" (I think humans call them "wingmen" but that really makes no sense because humans have arms, not wings... birds have "wingmen". Humans really need to get a clue, eh!)

Yup, just Curley and I out on the floor at PetSmart - struttin' our stuff. We'd be pretty handsome Canadian hunka hunka chunka chunka's. Plus I'm older so the felines could have their choice between my maturity, stature and sexy tube socks or Curley's dashing youthfulness and snazzy stripes. Not to mention we both can bust-a-move and cut a rug on a rug!!

Happy Birthday Curley! Have a cat milk cocktail for me dude!

Poem By Keebler, Eh!

It's been awhile since I've shared with you some of Keebler's poetry. Here's one she wrote today, eh. Enjoy!

Last night I had some kibble,
Last night I had some fish,
Last night I had some play time with a toy that I named Squish.

Last night I laid on the chair,
Last night I laid on the couch,
Last night I had a funny dream that I was Oscar the Grouch.

This morning I played on the stairs,
This morning I played on the rug,
This morning my mama gave me a brushing and a great big kitty hug!

This morning I was loved,
This morning I was happy,
This morning I ran by and gave Newbe a big old forehead slappy!

Ahhh, that Keebler. She's one talented lady.

Happy Tuesday!
Love,
Boo

Made A Funny, Eh!

Recently on my Twitter page I mentioned that if I was a hockey goalie, I'd have a hockey helmet with a vicious Hello Kitty on it. Now I have to admit, I should have said mask - I was still in shock the Canadiens lost so I was struggling with my words... but in the end I was just trying to be funny to cheer up my other Habs lovers. Alas though, some Twitter humans took it very seriously. I'm wondering if they're Flyers fans. *MOL*

My one fellow hockey follower did inquire how Hello Kitty could look vicious... which I think is a whiskertastic question.

Well here she is! I'm sure Hello Kitty's husband blames this photo on PMS.

Happy Blog Birthday, Eh!

Boo Buddies today is an exciting whiskertastic day! The Boo Blog turns 1yr old (or 7 in cat years).

My awesome human sister was such a doll and made sure I made it through the airports in Canada and the U.S. last year so I could have a pawsitively awesome time sunning my belly in the desert sun. My carrier was very luxurious, but I wish I would have had a seat in first class with my own bag of kitty treats. I would have enjoyed Garfield as the in-flight movie too.

When I arrived in Nevada, I was so excited to meet Niece. I had heard great things about her and how she spoiled her cat babies, and it's all true! You should see how whipped she is - the cats around here are very proud of their work. MOL!

I was very pampered my first weeks here. I had my own high-roller's suite, personalized dishes, my bed fluffed every day, spa treatments, and salmon Saturdays from room service. I had a blast once I ventured out to the main lobby where I didn't win any looneys or tooneys, but I found the incredible Vegas nightclub "The Rug". Man did Keebler and I party on that thing every night with our catnip cigars. It was incredible.

I've seen some pretty interesting events around here too. Niece and The Boy are always busy changing stuff around here. I guess they like this place to keep up with the latest trends. They call it home improvement, I call it nap interruptions! Then there was that hilarious night Niece sprayed a fire extinguisher in her own face. That was classic! Don't see that in Canada everyday!

When I was first here, I had a nemisis named Newbe. I think our tension came from the fact she's an American Shorthair and I'm from Canada. I think she's gotten over it for the most part now. We're not best friends, but she says hi every once in awhile and that's ok. It's better than paw fighting!

My greatest friend here is Lila. She's a Maine Coon and since Maine is so close to my home in Canada I think we have a bond. She was sick this past year but is now healthy and I'm so proud that she survived cancer. Meow meow pretty lady!

There's still one cat here I don't know very well and that's Frankie, she's a shy girl but she sometimes comes down for salmon. I think she's very pretty, and she has a unique voice because she's Siamese. I'm so lucky to meet such a diverse bunch of kitties.

Tension this past year did meet an all time high with Keebler, my club buddy, because she's Norwegian Forest and Norway didn't fair well in the winter olympics while Canada WON THE GOLD in men and women's hockey! MEEEEOOOOWWWW OH CANADA!! Too bad the Canadiens just lost their chance for the Stanely Cup.

So as you can see it's been an eventful first year! I even released my own workout video to help inspire all the kitties out there who need to lose a little fluff.

To all my Boo Buddies, I hope you are doing great and I can't wait to keep you entertained for another pawsitively wonderful year. I know that I'll spend the next year catching some rays and enjoying the good life. I am one blessed fella, eh?!

Lots of love,
Boo

An Interview With Keebler, Eh!

When I first moved from my beautiful homeland of Canada to the sunny desert of Las Vegas, my new roommate Keebler became a fast friend. We did fun things like party at a local nightclub called "The Rug" (check out my June 2009 entries for more about "The Rug"), and we watched the birds every morning. Keebler even took time to point out the best locations to take a nap, and I went to one of her poetry nights (check out my July 2009 entries for her poetry).

However, once hockey season started, that all changed, eh! Guess her Norwegian Forest blood runs deep and the Canadian hockey teams' olympic wins didn't help. In an effort to reconnect, I asked Keebler if I could interview her for my blog. She tried to appear as if she wasn't excited, but I could see that she was definitely happy to chat.

B - "We all know how I got here, but how did you come to live with my niece?"

K - "Well, I was what we call in the pet world as a "cue", short for rescued. Some pets are "homers", where they are born and never leave their humans. Others like you, are called "shoppies". Born then placed at a busy house with big windows and lots of visitors called "shoppers" that choose you and take you home. But me, I was one of "the lost". I don't remember how I lost my way, but fortunately some very nice humans got me off the streets and provided me with a humble, but comfortable condo.

My condo building was a pretty hoppin' place and was visited by a lot of people. I think my condo was right in the heart of some big time pet mall. Anyway, one day this little girl stopped by to see me. She must have really needed someone to talk to because she full-on took me out of my condo and hugged me and squeezed me!! I found it rude that she'd barge into my condo, so I bolted and hid under our condo building.

She must have still been lonely because she moved onto another resident, but as I peered out to see if I could go back to my condo, I could see your Niece and The Boy standing there. They had a lot of cat food and toys in their hands from the pet mall and I thought, that's fantastic! They can come hang at my condo! Party Time!

So, I went back to my condo and settled in, hoping they'd stop by. They did come by, but visited with a neighbor. Finally, they stopped to see me. The Boy and I had a fabulous conversation, and as they were leaving, I stuck my paw out and grabbed your Niece's coat just to say thanks for the visit. I think that was smart because a few nights later she was taking me from the condos to their house chuck full of pet mall stuff! I remember that night well because I was so excited to see her, and it was snowing like crazy! She drove very careful though to get me home safe and sound.

It's been a great time ever since... well except for the big long car ride when we moved from the snowy mountains to the desert. That was a very long day that I did not like at all."

B - "I hear you used to be called a different name, can you ellborate?"

K - "Yes, the humans that put me up in my condo called me Missy Cee. I gotta tell you, that is one funky name. Now though, I guess I'm named after some elves. That's kinda weird too, but I hear the elf guy makes cookies and I love cookies, so I'm ok with it now. I guess our ears are kind of similar."

B - "I can see that you are Norwegian Forest. Can you tell my readers a little bit more about your heritage?"

K - "Well, my great, great, great, great grandcats came over on a ship with humans called Vikings. My gggggrandcats were the best mousers ever, even though I don't know how those pesky mice boarded the ship! Let me tell ya, one of the things us Wegies can't stand are closed doors. I go around opening them all the time, which reminds me, if you have a door you need open, you just meow for me, ok? There's a Cat Fancy magazine in the human's bathroom that even says we're happy to reverse the effects of closed doors! I'll show it to you some time.

The human Vikings were very adventurous, and I think that rubbed off on us too. I feel lucky to be so observant and smart."

B - "I notice you like to eat. What are some of your favorite meals?"

K - "Ohhhh yes, I LOVE FOOD! Many cats call them "noms"! And I'm very lucky to have a very fast metabolism so I can eat and eat and eat and eat and never get fat. Plus, I'm very active. I know you're trying to lose some weight Boo Man so feel free to jog around the house with me at any time.

Things I love are chicken, turkey, ham, bacon, mahi-mahi, salmon, tuna, white cheddar cheese popcorn, vanilla ice cream, vanilla wafers, potato chips, Doritos, scrambled eggs with hashbrowns, cheese, and cat milk."

B - "As one of four girls here, what was it like to have a big handsome guy cat move in (by the way, that would be me, eh)?"

K - "Well, I didn't really mind, and I think Lila likes you, but I never hear the end of it from Newbe. It's just "meowrrr" this and "meowrrr" that. Get over it already honey! Oh hey, that's funny I called her honey. That was her "cue" name from her humans that found her a condo. Your Niece and The Boy named her Newbe when she came to live at the house full of pet mall things. She lived with your Niece and The Boy before I did."

B - "Tell me more about the other kitties here."

K - "Lila was the first. She's your Niece's favorite. Your Niece thinks we don't know, but we do, and we're ok with that. Lila was sick last year, and we're all very happy she's doing well. She's very nice but kinda different. When she meows no sound comes out unless she's really mad. I guess she's always been that way. I like that she's a long haired cat because with you Boo Man we now out number the short hairs! I like to think of us as the Long Haired Kitty Posse. When we all hang out, your Niece says it's a long haired kitty party! I love to party!

Frankie was next. She's a 'cue' too. She's pretty shy, but super chatty when you do run into her. I think she has pretty eyes. Like you Boo Man, she has different feet. She has extra toes. What is it like to have no claws Boo?

After Frankie there was Newbe, then me, and now you!"

B - "Sometimes I miss my claws, but for the most part, it's ok. What is the scariest thing that's ever happened to you?"

K - "Oh, I tell you what is scary. There's a closet monster in this house. Oh yeah. I check all the closets every night looking for that loser. One night, he locked me in a drawer! Yuppers! He's so totally toast when I find him. I was minding my own business in the bathroom opening cabinet doors, and the next thing I knew, I was in a drawer. And not the big drawer either! A little one! Your Niece heard me and let me out. She couldn't figure out how I got in there, and I think she now believes me about the closet monster. I'm gonna get him, don't you worry!"

B - "If you could offer my readers one piece of advice, what would it be?"

K - "Spoil your pets with things from the pet mall. We're worth it!"

B - "Thank you Keebler for being a part of my blog!"

K - "No problem. I'm going to go see if I can sneek up on the closet monster now. Wish me luck!"

Dear Santa, (insert implied Aye here)

Dear Santa,

I'm writing to let you know I have been the purrfect boy this year. In celebration of this exemplary behavior, I have a few requests. For your convenience, since I know you're very busy these days, I have provided a simple and organized list below.

#1.) Seafood Cat Treats
The reason for these should be pretty self explanatory. I come from an Island with lots of fish... it's just my thing.

#2.) The Ball of Furry Fury
I'm pretty sure I could kick this mouse's toosh all over this place!

#3.) Ba Da Beam
We need this laser light show at The Rug so we can be the awesome disco kitties that we are around these parts. It's all about the Vegas nightlife!

#4.) 360 degree water fountain
Not only is this a lovely centerpiece for our home, but I'm sure this flowing water is tasty and fun to play in! I love to stick my face and paws in the water dish... shhh, don't tell!

#5.) Some stockings for my roommates
What can I say, I like to spoil the ladies.

And last but not least, I'd like a gift for my family. I think this picture frame would be nice so they can have a great big photo of me!

So just to re-cap:
Me = Good Boy
You = Bring me gifts

Since you're so savvy (and good looking too I must say there Mr. Claus) I know that you have my new address on file. I hope you enjoy seeing the fabulous lights of the Las Vegas strip as you fly into town, aye. As you know, we don't have many chimneys in the desert, so feel free to drop our items at the front door like the UPS man does.

Happy Holidays!!

Your very good boy,
Boo

p.s. I guess I should request something for my sister Peggy. She'd probably like this:

Table for Trois, Aye!

Bonjour my little French Canadian friends! Tonight I had a splended time at The Rug with Keebler, and we were so pleased to be joined by Ms. Lila Belle. We had a grand old time rolling around all showing our big fluffy tails and our big fluffy bellies!

Hope everyone out there enjoyed a good stretch today too!

Purr at you later!
Boo

Poems, Aye!

Early tonight I mentioned that Keebler read poems at The Rug (see my previous post). She just swung by and I asked her if I could share them with you - my fabulous audience. She said yes, aye! Here are some of the ones I love. Enjoy!

Poem #1
Title: "Food - I Love You."

Fish Fish.
Chicken Chicken.
All of it is finger lickin'.

Kibble Kibble.
Tuna Tuna.
Can I have some soona soona?

I need to eat.
I need to now.
Feed me mom.
Meow Meow.

Poem #2
Title: "I Am Keebler Hear Me Roar... or Just Meow"

My name is Keebler. I am one of five cats.
I live in a big house that has no rats.

My soul is less feline and more like a man.
I love eating tuna that comes in a can.

My parents found me at a PetsMart shelter.
My fur after a nap is quite helter skelter.

I like to watch birds with a Canadian named Boo.
He flew a long way to be a part of our "zoo".

My mom and dad they sure like to hug.
But nothing compares to our place called The Rug.

Poem #3
Title: "Birds - Dr. Seuss Style"

Birds birds everywhere. They're in the trees, they're in the air.
I watch the birds, yes I do. I watch the birds, how 'bout you?
I do not know how they fly. I do not know or ask why.
I love the birds and their songs. I love the birds all day long.
I wish the birds could come inside. I wish, I wish, oh my oh my!
If I was a bird I'd hit the sky. If I was a bird I'd fly, fly, FLY!

I'll try to get more poems in the future! Here's a picture of how Keebler gets in the poem writing "zone". I think when all her feet are at her head she does her best work.

The Boo Man

Cat Facts, Aye?

Greetings Feline Friends and Followers!

Last Thursday, Niece and I hung out at The Rug. It was "coffee house" night. Keebler came by and read a poem. Frankie sang a song while tapping on the jingle ball toy. And Niece and I read this fascinating book called "180 Amazing Cat Facts". It retails for $1.59 in Canada. That's just a looney and some change, aye!

Now I know this sounds like a lot of information to take in - I mean 180 facts is daunting, but really it was a pleasant read and The Rug is such a wonderful place. The book is actually a small paperback and newsprint book that my human mom had purchased. She loved miniature things! My human sister brought it back with her this past May when mom went to heaven to play with Smoke kitty. I'm sure it took up no room at all in her suitcase!

Since this was such a fun night of reading with Niece, I had to share some of the amazing facts from this book!

Fact #2: "Egyptians shaved their eyebrows as a sign of mourning when their cats died." Boy, I'm glad people don't do that any more - that would look as funny as a cat with their butt shaved... oh wait, I think Lila gets her butt shaved. Whoops!

Fact #11: "Cats are the only animals that purr. Cats purr about 26 cycles per second, the same frequency as an idling diesel engine." VRROOM VRROOM baby!

Fact #15: "Cats hearts beat twice as fast as human hearts." That's just because we have a lot of love to give! Awwww...

Fact #18: "Calico cats are almost always female." Yeah, and the one that lives here is still rude to me! I wish there was a fact that says they're always nice to Canadians so I could show it to her.

Fact #20: "Cats have 527 muscles." I think I have more because I'm always hearing how I'm such a big boy!

Fact #61: "The average cat is considered a senior citizen at age 10." WHAT?! I'm 6 this year - no way, I don't feel a day over 2. By the way, my birthday is July 25th and I'm open to gifts!

Fact #96: "95% of cat owners admit they talk to their cats." Is it strange that I talk to my owner so she can write this blog?

Pretty fascinating stuff, aye? I'll write more in a future blog. With 180 facts, this will keep us going for awhile. MOL! (meow out loud)

Have a whiskertastic week!

Pawsitively Yours,
Boo

Slow Week, Aye?

Sorry I haven't blogged much lately... I've just been chillin'. Most days I get up, have some breakfast, watch the birds outside, wander out to the rug, and then come back to my suite for a snoozer.

My new friend Keebler comes by every morning and watches the birds too. It's nice! Newbe has been a little more friendly, but I'm pretty sure she has something against Canadians. It's kinda rude, aye!

Here's Keebler watching the birds:

I guess one exciting thing did happen. Our neighbor across the street has several vehicles and one of them was in an accident right outside his house. I saw the whole thing out the front window while I was watching the birds. A lady from the neighborhood, who drives way too fast, came rollin' down the road and WHAMO!! Right into the back of his F-150 truck. She has a big SUV so she did a lot of damage. But who would think that parking out front of your own house would be so dangerous? YIKES! I wish I would have taken some photos, but I was too stunned. It was loud too. Here's a drawing I made to reenact the scene:

CLICK ON PHOTO TO ENLARGE (you'll have to click on the back button though to return to my blog):

I also heard on the news the other day that Tim Horton's is making a move here in America to become a coffee/donut competitor. That's exciting! I love the smell of a Timmy Horton's!!

Oh! There are two new nicknames I heard this week. One is Sugar Buttons and the other one is Boo-meister. These silly humans!

Well, I guess that's all for today. Hope everyone out there in America and Canada are doing great! Meow at you all again soon!

Pawsitively Yours,
The Boo Man

Entertainment, Aye!

There are a lot of things I find entertaining... playing with Doofus Dog, watching the birds, hanging out on the rug, my virtual fish bowl, but nothing is as good as Simon's Cat! This hillarious guy makes Garfield look like a chump, aye? Niece and The Boy laugh so hard every time they watch his clips. Take a look for yourself!

p.s. There's something called Independence Day coming up this weekend here in America. I'll keep you posted!

My First New Friend, Aye?

I don't have a lot of time to blog tonight because I'm partying it up at The Rug. I have to say, it has been the greatest kitty nightclub ever. And my roommate - the Norwegian Forest - turned out to be my best clubbing buddy! And here I thought our differences over Canadian hockey and Norwegian hockey were going to ruin our chances of hanging out, aye.

Tonight is "Catnip Cigar Night" at The Rug - which I personally think is the greatest cat toy/promotional club item of all time! I mean anyone can get a plastic tumbler filled with cat milk, but legalized nip in a cigar shaped fabric toy? That is outstanding! This place holds no expense when it comes to pleasing its patrons.

Here are a few pics of us chillin' at the club.

This is one of my favorite new friend pictures:

This past Thursday, my furry sister Peggy stopped by for happy hour at The Rug. It was good to unwind after a long week. I mean you saw how hard I was helping Niece with her documents from work! It's exhausting!

Well I was going to see if the party was still hoppin', but writing this blog has made me sleepy. Maybe I'll just grab some kibble and lie down in my suite. Tomorrow is another day and I'm in tight now with the club owners. Viva La Rug!!

Pawsitively Yours,
Boo

Dance Party with the Boo-Man, Aye?

Hello Boo Blog Buddies! Or as they say in the southwest, Boo Blog Banditos!

Today I had a GREAT day. First, I helped my niece with some work. It was nice to lend a paw.

Then, I fluffed myself up and stepped out of the suite to check out the new hot spot in Vegas called "The Rug." It just opened on the 1st level of the resort, and there is currently no cover charge! Here's a picture of me at The Rug getting ready to shake my groove thing! I was giving the DJ my fierce stare which says, "I have dance fever and there ain't no cure baby!"

The ratio of women to men is 4 to 1. A bachelor's paradise! You can see in the photo below what it looks like after a hoppin' night. It's just a mess of fur and cat toys that the DJ passes out. This was before the cleaning crew arrived.

I guess The Rug also doubles as a sports arena. The Wegie plays on a soccer ball league there. I hear she's very good about keeping the ball in bounds.

Next, I got a table with a view at the restaurant (the one with the kitchen that is minus that microwave thingy). The grounds are quite exquisite here. So green with bushes and trees. I saw so many birds I thought I was going to lose my mind, aye! Security had to ask me to not stand on the table. So, I was polite and took a seat.

After that I wandered around a bit, stopped by the bathroom, and headed back to the suite.

And that was about it today! I didn't see much of the American Shorthair or the Wegie. Guess they were at some other hang out called "The Garage". I hear that they think it is just fabulous, but it sounds a little to rustic for me.

Cat chat at you again soon!
Pawsitively yours,
Boo
