My Day At The Vet, Aye!

So today I got to meet the doctor that saved Lila's life. We call her Dr. P., and she's very nice and loves kitties!

See, I got a little case of acne on my chin - kinda of like the teenagers I see walking up and down the street in our neighborhood! We discovered that my big bowls with the beautiful Canadian flags on them were too deep so I was rubbing food debris on my chin and it caused a break out. But I'm clearing up just great now! And I like my new flat dishes.

Anyway, while I was at the vet for my chin, they used this silly thing to listen to my heart. It was kinda cold with a round thing and Dr. P. put the other end of it in her ears. Who invents this stuff? Then, they put this teeny tiny cuff on my arm and it would puff up and then go down, and then puff up and go down... they did this over and over and over. They said that it reading my "blood pressure". What the heck is that?!

The vet in Canada said I had a "murmur" before I flew to the U.S., I assumed it meant I was super sexy, but I guess it is related to my heart, so it was good that Dr. P. took a listen too. Dr. P. agreed that my heart sounded like a funny song, so like Lila, they used the ultrasound machine to see my ticker! Only I didn't have to have my belly shaved like she did. I'm still fluffy-tastic!

Dr. P. has a friend too, Dr. L., who loves to look at ultrasound photos. He does it all the time he loves it so much! After they took the photos, I got to hang with the fun vet techs. Boy were they a hoot, aye! All I heard was, "Boo is so cute" and "Boo is so great"... I'm such a ladies man!

Anyway, I heard Dr. P. say that I have HCM. I think that stands for Handsome Cat Magnetism. Niece says it stands for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. WHAT?! Are those real words? They're very long.

From what the Cat Fancy magazine in the bathroom says that I read the other day, usually Maine Coons (like Lila) have HCM, but any cat can have it. Lila does have a slight murmur but she does not have HCM. Dr. P. said that I have a little heart valve damage from my HCM. What's funny is that's just like my human mom. She had to have heart surgery to fix her valve many years before I was here, but I won't go through anything like that.

The worst thing I heard today? I have to lose weight! I think I'm quite the fun curvy fella, but alas, it will help my heart if I do hit the stairs and get some exercise. Fortunately I have lots of room to move around here.

So much like the kitty in the photo who is my workout inspiration, I'm gonna pump some iron!

October, Aye!

Can you believe it is October? It's Fall, aye! Today was a lovely 72 degrees (F) and tonight it will be 59 (F). All the windows were open, and I ran and visited every one! I love this crisp weather it feels great on my big fluffy coat. I'm constantly hearing that I'm super soft... to me, I'm just Boo-tastic, as always!

Here's a fabulous photo of me enjoying sunshine time.

I hope everyone is having a great start to Fall. It is my favorite time of year!

Pawsitively Yours,
The Boo Man
